Important Information to Understand Regarding Fall (Sept - Dec) 2020 & Winter (Jan - March) 2021 Sessions at JDFSC
Our Fall 2020 and Winter 2021 ice will be at the "Q" Arena down the hill from the JDF Arena (West Shore Parks & Recreation) in Colwood and also at Westhills Arena (City Centre Park) off Langford Parkway.
The health check each day outside the arena will continue to take place as we did for summer ice, and
the policy of no spectators or parents allowed in the facility will also continue as well, as we have been advised by our Skate Canada BC/YK Section.
The safety of our skaters, coaches and volunteers MUST be our priority!
ALL sessions will continue to follow the same processes and procedures implemented in the Summer and conducted this Fall. Please keep updated by reading the important documents and tabs on our website under "Return to Play."
A waiver for this school will need to be filled out and signed by both skater and parent with paper copy turned in on the first day of this school. A new waiver must be completed at the start of each new season.
-
Online payment only, no cash or cheque.
-
The Skate Canada BC/YK Return to Skating waiver must be signed prior to skating. Click here for the waiver.
Pre-STAR & STARSkate/ Competitive (Groups A, B, C & D for 2020-2021)
Please note:
Your primary coach will notify you as to what Group you may register for.
Full package registrations will take priority as we have a limited number of skaters allowed on ice
each session due to the "Return to Play" Guidelines. If you register for full package you Must
skate each day due to these restrictions we have to follow.
All sessions are done by coaches discretion. The session lists for each group may change due to registrations.
If you have any questions, please email your primary coach (Group B, C, D and Group A) or email the club at admin@jdfskatingclub.com.
Since the beginning of September 2020, families have received notice from their primary coach and/or Director of Skating regarding which "Group" to register their skater(s) in. If you have not been notified, please contact your primary coach. If you do not have a primary coach, please contact registration@jdfskatingclub.com
CanSkate [2020-2021]
** Registration access has been emailed out to the skaters that fit the criteria for our first CanSkate Fall (Sept. - Dec. 2020) program offered. ** Fall CanSkate will only be for Sept to Dec lessons.
Online registration for Winter CanSkate is now available for our Winter 2021 Season (Jan to March 2021). Be sure to register right away as space is limited and when the program is full, registration will close.
General Information:
Due to Skate Canada COVID-19 restrictions in place, we will be allowing access to register to our previous 2019/2020 JDFSC members, by email, based on the stages they have completed. We will not be allowing the Kinderskate, Pre-CanSkate or Stage 1 skaters to register for our Sept. to Dec. 2020 programs as well as our Jan. to March. 2021 programs. We are not permitted to accept new members in our CanSkate program due to tracking skill level. All due to the physical distancing rules in place as well as smaller numbers allowed on the ice and in the facility.***JDFSC members, please do NOT email us asking for your child's CanSkate level. We will contact you if your child is eligible for our program - thank you.
Parents must read all the Return to Play rules on our website and go over the rules of physical distancing with your child. A paper copy of the waiver must be signed by the skater and the parents and turned in at the first lesson (health check station outside the arena). This is also mandatory.
The guidelines are strictly enforced with all the safety measures in place, and for this reason the Fall CanSkate (Saturday/Monday sessions Sept - Dec 2020) and the Winter CanSkate (Mondays Jan - March 2021) will only be 30 min lesson on ice.
At this time, spectators are not allowed in the facility during our programs due to capacity restrictions and guideline recommendations from Skate Canada BC/YK Section.
Once you receive confirmation that your child may register you can email the club asking to be considered for a designated volunteer during the Canskate session (admin@jdfskatingclub.com) You will have restricted access in the building during the session if you are selected to be a volunteer. Please do NOT email us until we send you registration access confirmation.
All Canskaters MUST have:
-
their own skates
-
hard guards for walking on pavements
-
gloves
-
name tag made by the club
-
CSA approved helmet with the certification sticker on it. (It is a certified hockey helmet, not a bike or ski helmet. Skaters will not be permitted on the ice unless the helmet is approved. Face shields are not needed.)
Drop Off and Pick Up:
CanSkaters must arrive fully dressed to go on the ice with skates on. This is mandatory as we cannot share clothing and must respect physical distancing at all times. The Coaches, Program Assistants and the health check volunteers will be wearing masks. Parents are also required to wear a mask at both the drop off and pick up of their skater(s).
Parents are required to drop skaters off at the health check entrance 15 min prior to the start of their session and pick them up at the exit door immediately following the lesson. Please understand that if you miss the window for the health check (outlined in red on the schedule) you will NOT be able to enter or skate, this is the same for all of our programs. Parents MUST remain in the parking lot for emergency situations and prompt pick up time.
**IMPORTANT REMINDER for CanSkate Parents**
Please DO NOT enter the drop off Health Check skater area or pick up area outside the side door without wearing a mask.
Please remember to put the name tag (made by us) on your child prior to coming to the rink. We ask you to understand that we cannot allow your child to go in without this name tag as it contains very important information that enables us to facilitate CanSkate smoothly and safely with these Covid measures in place.
Thank you very much for your support during this very strange/difficult time.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the club at admin@jdfskatingclub.com.
Take care, be well, stay safe.
